Few things are more important to a young mind than science. That’s
why MBEF has made it a point this year to fund it at every school.
The Foundation will give $210,000 towards this effort.
Starting this fall MBEF will fund a Science Specialist for each
elementary school to introduce hands-on laboratory science to grades
K through 5. The best way for students to grasp scientific concepts
is with their hands.
At the Middle School, MBEF funds have added innovative instructional
technology to an already strong science program. At Mira Costa, we
are funding a lab assistant, and have contributed to the creation of
a Science and Math Tech Center and to the renovation of the
arboretum for biology studies.
In addition, MBEF has set aside $10,000 for a district-wide Science
Coordinator who will assess our overall science curriculum, and
facilities, too, and provide direction for making it better in the
near future.
Your donations have made all this possible. Your continued support
will allow us to keep our pledge to make science a priority in
Manhattan Beach. So please, step up: Give what you can to the MBEF
Annual Appeal.
Think of it as a fundamental law: the more we put into science, the
more our kids will get out of it.
