If your child gets something out

As a community, we’re committed to physical fitness. Yet without MBEF, we wouldn’t have a solid physical education program to speak of in our schools. Three years ago, the District was forced to eliminate elementary PE teachers altogether. MBEF stepped in to help. At first, we could only afford part-time PE teachers. Not only was this a loss to the kids, but to the classroom teachers who had used the PE period for lesson-planning. With PE teachers reduced, classroom teachers had to do double duty--teach and lead PE. But thanks to your generosity, and continued support from the Beach Cities Health District, we were able to reinstate full-time PE in all Manhattan Beach elementary schools. We’re also able to pay for a PE assistant at MBMS as well. It isn’t cheap ($300,000 at the elementary level and $30,000 at MBMS). But when we see an active, healthy, happy child cartwheeling down the beach, we know it was worth every penny. Your donation to MBEF helps us keep up the pace.
