2008-2009 Annual Report now Avaliable

Final_beaker_change_goalWe did it! Together we raised $4.1 million to support our children’s education at this critical time.  The funds raised in our 09-10 Annual Appeal far surpasses funds raised in any previous Annual Appeal. It may surpass the amount raised by any other education foundation.  The average donation was $1,500 per family. In all there were 2,520 parent donors and an additional 250 supporters.

Thank you to each and every one of the families that have participated in maintaining high quality education for all of our children.

Together we make a difference!

MBUSD has begun their budgeting process.  They must produce a balanced budget that covers three years, including our current school year.   Their first pass projected a deficit of $6 million at the end of 2011-2012, including estimated MBEF donations.  The school board has some very difficult decisions ahead of them.  They are planning to meet every Wednesday at 6:30 pm in the District Office to complete their budget requirements.  As stewards of your donations, we will provide an e-mail update following each MBUSD budget meeting.  Our local commitment to our schools is more important now than ever before.

Manhattan Beach Unified School District STAR Test Scores Highest in the Area

MBUSD outperformed all elementary through high school South Bay school districts in the percentage of students testing at the proficient or advanced levels in English and mathematics on the state STAR 2009 test.  The district also beat its own test numbers from last year.

There was great improvement in elementary science test scores. MBEF donations have funded elementary science specialists for the last two years.  This rise in science scores demonstrates the difference these teachers have made for our children and our district.  Click to review the Beach Reporter article with the scores and full story.  Find the Easy Reader article here.
